Like Turtles – Artec Studio (& Protopixel)

Communication

Break free from plastic

‘Like Turtles’ seeks to raise awareness of the importance of not using or producing plastic bags and to promote that those already in circulation do not pollute the seas. This fact generates big inconveniences for the natural environment and the living beings that live from it, such as the problem of turtles that eat plastic waste mistaking them with jellyfish.

The installation captivates us with the soft dynamism and sound of the fluid mantra of 230 bags, each one illuminated by a floating point of light above us. The installation attracts us in the same way that the bags in the sea attract the turtles, but with the intention of raising awareness that these bags should never reach the sea.

The surface area of the plastic bags in the light installations represents the average consumption of one person in 20 months.

‘Like Turtles’ was exhibited during Off Llum BCN 2022 circuit, an alternative route to Llum BCN Festival which seeks to focus on experimental light art.

Nuestro Mar Vibra – Artec Studio

Content Creation, Media Art

Memories of the Mediterranean sun

Nuestro Mar Vibra (Our Sea Vibrates) is a light artwork by Maurici Ginés evocative of a fragmented vision of the dawn and the reflection of the Sun in the Mediterranean sea.

The light art was presented in ‘Luz Madrid 2021’ (Madrid Light Festival) and was possible thanks to the collaboration of Simon Group, promoter of the artwork.

Located in the South Patio of Conde Duque, the artwork infused with lighting and sound effects aimed to transport visitors to the mediterranean coast and fill them with vital energy.

The artist´s work explores the synergy between design, art and people through the medium of light, developing interactive, sensory experiences, arrtworks and lighting identities.

Persopectiva – Artec Studio

Content Creation

A sensorial tour of color and sound

The light-art installation “Persopectiva”, inspired by the pictorial work of Josef Albers, seeks to reflect on the concept of depth, color and space. Through subtle color changes the installation plays with the sensation of depth and space. Invites visitors to a sensory tour and proposes a co-productive relationship with the artwork.

MEVA: Memòria d’Espai Viscuda Arxivada

Research

In a neighborhood as peculiar as Urbanizació Meridiana, the proposal begins with a comunication problem. Residents have gradually distanced themselves and, in many cases, they lost contact. Urban space is not just what is limited to a conventional map, the urban space is the true set of factors that live spaces with many types of actions that turn the city into a social space. The proposal is based on the sharing of memory as a connecting link used to recover the feeling of belonging. To do this, the citizens will play a key role because they will be able to contribute in the content of a digital platform. The main difference with any other platform is the added ability to connect information through a Machine Learning assistant. It’s specifically configured to learn from each dialogue and relate content so that, like belongingness, it can increase its complexity as information is added. Another way to work with memory in times of social distancing.
